Abstract
Anne Ganzert's chapter focusses on activist practices, their mediation, facilitation, and narrative framing, as they appear in the realms of pop culture fandom and fan activism. The author questions media activism and the taking of sides and sites from a fandom studies perspective and reflects the mediated connection of fans through their shared fandom, often rendering them ready and willing to engage for a variety of causes. Additionally, the effect and relevance of these seemingly 'petty protests' become evident as a ground to practice, in every sense of the word, the taking of sides.
